This year, smartphone manufacturers are using rather unusual solutions to avoid the use of slots in the display.

We have already seen pop-up cameras and transformer cameras. But apparently, Oppo will be the first company to place the front camera under the screen.
Oppo's vice president, Brian Shen, has released a short video clip in China's Weibo social network, demonstrating a working prototype of a smartphone with a built-in self-portrait camera.
The prototype has launched a camera application, and for greater visibility, Shen puts a finger over the location where the optical sensor is located.
Unlike the pop-up camera, the solution shown by Oppo has no moving parts that could be rubbed and worn.
There are also unhealthy and non-decorative slits that spoil the design of the mobile device. Brian Shen commented that this is a new technology that is at an early stage of its development.
So far, the quality of the photos is not as good as other solutions, but it is actively working to improve it. Therefore, serial production of smartphones with the new camera will begin later.
The Engadget web portal suggests that Vivo, Oppo's main competitor in China, is also working on a similar technology, which was hinted at by its product manager in March.
